WEBINAR - Biomechanics for Tree Climbers

Biomechanics for Tree Climbers

Presenter: Phil Kelley - Wright Tree Service, Inc.

Arborists frequently complain of suffering from musculoskeletal injuries caused by repetitive stretching and supporting large loads in contorted postures. The prolonged use of these techniques can result in muscle sprains and degenerative joint problems. This discussion will look at correlations between working practices and chronic injury, and recommend safer techniques. We will examine ideas such as overall body mechanics, grip strength on rope, and modified tool use to help promote a longer working career and reduce the drain on our skilled workforce.
