The Tree Care Industry Goes to Washington

leg day

With the election of President Trump came a massive seat change in Washington. New faces on Capitol Hill are causing uncertainty as we grapple with new priorities and shifting regulatory agendas. We must educate our newly-elected officials about who Tree Care Industry Association is and why the tree care industry is important.

tciaTCIA invites you, our members, to join us in Washington, D.C., June 13-14, for the association’s bi-annual Legislative Conference and Day on the Hill. This two-day event offers you the opportunity to understand how elected officials and their decisions affect you and your business. Join your peers to experience firsthand how TCIA protects and advances the industry by attempting to influence public policy in a direction favorable to you.

The Day on the Hill will involve briefings on the issues of importance to your business, including OSHA, labor policy, immigration, regulations, and forestry policy. In the past, TCIA petitioned OSHA and enlisted Congressional support for a separate arborist standard. It took almost a decade, but we’re on the regulatory agenda and remain there – for now. We will continue to advocate for you, but your presence and voice are invaluable.

Following the briefings will be meetings with Senators, Representatives, and their staffs. We may also have meetings with executive branch officials. This is an exciting time to be in Washington; if you have never met directly with your elected officials, now is your chance to meet the people that, to this day, you likely only hear about on the news.

Your voice is important – join us for the Legislative Conference and Day on the Hill. The deadline to register is May 23. For more information and to register, go to tcia.org/events.
