TCIA has completely redesigned the Tree Care Academy (TCA) Crew Leader Program!

The new TCA Crew Leader manual is a comprehensive, employer-based training program that results in a certificate of completion.

Crew Leader is specific to training and assessing the knowledge and skills that are important in effective leadership of a tree care crew. Skills covered include quality control, maintaining crew morale, motivating workers, delegating, resolving conflicts, communicating with clients, evaluating performance, and training, as well as safety and production. The manual includes A300 specification-writing guidelines, flowcharts, sample checklists and forms and reports. Satisfactory completion of the manual results in 6.25 ISA and CTSP CEUs.

REQUIRED BEFORE ALL WORKSHOPS Attendees must:

  1. Purchase the Tree Care Academy Crew Leader Manual
  2. Study manual.
  3. Register for online testing with individual log-in
  4. Complete test and submit to online testing center.
  5. Receive results and certificate of completion.

The manual is $83.99 for TCIA members and $131.49 for non-members.

Continue building your crew leader skills by attending a Crew Leader Qualification workshop.

The one-day workshop is highly interactive with nine activities to help learn or hone leadership skills. Topics and activities include how to communicate with clients, how to create and maintain professionalism on your crew, how to motivate crew members, how to train crew members, how to deal with conflicts including clients and crew members.

There is an exam at the end of the workshop. You must pass the exam in order to earn your Crew Leader Qualification. Satisfactory completion of the workshop and exam results in 7.5 ISA and CTSP CEUs.

The workshop fee is $295 for TCIA members and $395 for non-members.

Completion of the Crew Leader manual is required to attend a Crew Leader workshop.
