Overview

Tree Care companies, foresters, lumberjacks and the general public are invited to watch and participate in a Woodsman Competition in Gilford, NH on Sunday, August 26, 2012, 11AM at Gilford Elementary School, Gilford, NH. Participants must choose 1 of 2 Divisions, the General Public Division or the Professional Lumberjack Division.

Events include, but are not limited to:

• Jack & Jill events, perfect for couples, including a Jill’s Skillet Throw and Jack’s Chainsaw Toss
• Individual Events include Axe Throwing, Wood Splitting, Horizontal Chop, Chainsaw Speed Cut& Chainsaw Disk Stack
• An exciting timed Pole Climb, Birling and even a Tree Identification contest
• Team Events include a Pulp Toss, Log Roll and Cross Cut Sawing, too!

The Belknap Landscape Company Tree Service crane will set a large tree for the pole climb and BLC Tree Crews are supplying the timber as specified by the event coordinators. The Tree Care Industry Association (TCIA) is encouraging participation by tree care professionals across New England. Bringing extensive experience with such competitions, AJ Dupere, Head Coach of the UNH Woodsman Team and Forester for the State of New Hampshire will be bringing the necessary equipment and running the event’s competitions.
