The dog days of summer are here.
Tree workers, who are exposed to extreme heat more often than many other professionals, need to be cautious and prepared when it comes to summertime temperatures.
OSHA has once again launched their Heat Illness Prevention Campaign for outdoor workers, which features a variety of educational materials aimed to give workers and employers information about heat illnesses and how to prevent them.
New this year is OSHA’s Heat Safety Tool Smartphone App, which calculates the heat index for your worksite and displays a risk level to outdoor workers. Other educational materials include posters (shown at left), fact sheets, quick cards, training guides, and more. OSHA also has drop-in art and articles that you can use in your publications and communications.
TCIA encourages you to visit the OSHA Heat Illness Prevention Campaign website and utilize these tools to stay safe in the sun this summer.
And if nothing else, remember three simple words: water, rest, shade.
