The purpose of the TCIA Model Company Safety Program is to enable you to develop a comprehensive and effective program of your own by adopting its policies and procedures where needed.

The Model Company Safety Program is a product of the TCIA Safety Committee. The Committee itself is about 50 people representing commercial tree care companies large and small from all over the United States. Every member has management responsibility for safety in his or her company. Many are full-time safety professionals.

After deciding what criteria of a comprehensive safety program should be and developing a checklist based on those criteria, the Safety Committee contributed and helped assemble the industry best practices for each one of the criteria into one cohesive document.

The TCIA Model Company Safety Program is meant to be used with the Model Company Safety Program Checklist for annual evaluation of program effectiveness.

Portions of the Model Company Safety Program that are relevant to employees -- the "Forms" and "Policy" sections -- are provided on CD in both English and Spanish.
